I've always seen something sort of heroic too when plants or trees are growing in unexpected if not impossible locations. I love that you have a good number of images of things like that here on your blog.
You should watch Löwenzahn (that´s how we call this flower). It´s a kid´s education program and this flower forces itself out of bitumen in the street when the series begins. Nature is amazing. And strong. Here you can, before they bloom, pick them, blow off the seeds and make a wish. Same in your place? (After all the seeds grow as new plants so I don´t feel bad doing it once in a while).
I like that, too, Joy! I always notice such things and it makes me smile :-)
Iris--yes! Same here! In fact, there's a mural not far from where I took this pic--the image is of a girl blowing the seeds and the words say, 'Wish you were here' :-)
Yes I think a lot of us are sort of like that in this world and we find ourselves planted in places that we might not otherwise be. Fish-out-of-water, plant-out-of-soil I guess would be the equivalent. The idea that it's possible to thrive in a place that is different to our usual habitat is inspirational. It makes the struggle to survive more obvious. I've seen fresh water plants/trees growing on a rock in an ocean. It shouldn't be possible but there they are anyway. The images paint the 'real picture' to those who realize what it means. It's so interesting that you find so many examples of this in our walk-abouts. =)
