Be Kind

This is a weird year. The holidays are going to be hard for so many. Let's all make an extra effort to be kind to the people who are working hard in various capacities so that we can access the necessities of life. Every nice encounter with these workers lessens the sting of the jerks that want to blame the employees for their own shortcomings, as described in this essay.

The sense of entitlement people seem to have as they go through their lives is really something. And yes, the plastic has to come off the turkey before cooking--if it doesn't, it's not the fault of the grocery store employee that sold the turkey. 😕

I worked as a cashier for a well known store for years. It was always tough to make it through any day. I've been cussed at etc. for things that I had nothing to do with and couldn't control. Some, not all, people have always been rude and sort of Karen's. This year the Karen's are on steroids. I definitely am glad I'm not in retail anymore.

I've worked a bit in retail and in a library. It can be hard working with the public!

'It can be hard working with the public'

I've heard many who do say similar :)

All the best Jan

I owned a Hallmark store before becoming a teacher. I worked 365 days a year. Luckily our customers were sweet.

I once worked in a 'sustainable goods' store (I put the quotes in because some of the stuff sold there didn't fit the definition). There were some people who would just come in to talk. It got to the point where I knew when to expect them. They just wanted to have a visit.
