Quite a scene. When I still had a car I saw those windmills on the way to my family (here in Germany of course). Still remember how I got louder on the phone to the Italian guy in Ireland mumbling to me. No idea how that helped, other than to entertain my colleagues... I think I would be lost in your place, but maybe it was also the Italian accent mixed into it... He worked for Apple. And I told him to e-mail, not phone me.... Boy, it was embarrassing. 🤣
Perhaps just a small 'throwback' to whether or not 'the mountain is out'? Does it do that there too? I know Mt Rainier was forever hiding behind something one day and then bam as clear as a bell the next as if it had slipped below the water for a nap. It kind of startled some people who hadn't seen the PNW on a clear day before lol.
One interesting thing I've noticed... When I lived over seas there was hardly any screens or anything showing near all of the scenic/famous sites, such as those wind farms. No one tagged all over the famous fountains/monuments etc. Is it almost odd to see maybe old post cards or images of the days before things like that were there? An old friend from back then moved to Switzerland somewhere to a region where they don't allow anything like that they don't want nature marred in any way. (I'm glad it's not screens out there and I appreciate the wind-power.) I also like that a group of citizens thought 'you know what, let's not do that here' and took those measures.
The phone is hard! Bill has a really tough time understanding Irish people in person and even more so on the phone. It takes my brain a couple seconds to adjust so there is a lag at first--LOL--and sometimes I have to ask them to repeat something. This is when they're speaking English :-) When I was setting up the electric account here a couple months ago, I was puzzled when the woman asked me if there was any glass in the new place. 'Glass?' I said, 'You mean like windows?' She raised her voice and said, 'GAS! Is there any GAS?' I sheepishly replied that there is not. :-/
Joy--yup--now you see it, now you don't--LOL Depends on the fog, cloud cover, etc. People bitch about the windfarms here. But they also bitch about high electricity prices.
