'Tis the Season...

...to keep my eyes open for the first Christmas biscuit sighting of the year. Yesterday was the day. We were in the grocery store in the next village and there they were.

This was the grocery store down the road from us in the next village--Gallagher's/Siopa Mhici. I haven't been to Aldi in a couple weeks, so not sure what they have. Usually the Christmas puddings are the first to appear--they should be showing up soon. Our daughter loves white chocolate, so she was always into the white chocolate covered Oreos.

I must admit... I never had an Oreo. And I didn´t know they were for Christmas!
Here Speculaas are typical.
Sometimes that sweet tooth wakes up for those

It always makes me smile to see these appear, Brenda! :-) I don't buy them (although the Oreo selection box could tempt me!), but they are a representation of the season.

iris--Oreos are available year-round, although they sometimes have the ones covered in white chocolate for Christmas. But they put the regular ones in a Christmas tin and try to make them festive--LOL

I looked up Speculaas and from the description, they seem like what are called caramelized biscuits here. I had never had them until we came to Ireland and discovered them in B&B rooms with the coffee/tea making supplies. I liked them, so when I found them at Aldi, I started buying some once in a while. I have some in the cupboard now.
