Heading up to the recycle centre, hauling our broken bread machine and some glass in a shopping cart, we stopped at the house with the birds to see what was happening. There are always ducks and a goose or two, and since December, turkeys.
On this day, one turkey was sitting in the swing:
Another turkey decided to go over and start a conversation, while the goose looked on from under the trampoline:
Turkey 2 decided to change positions, so walked behind the swing and started making loud noises through the slats. Turkey 1 answered back, standing up and getting louder:
The goose was unruffled. 😀😉

Beautiful bids! When I was growing up was lived at a lake and one of my brother-in-laws found a Pekin duck trying to cross a highway so he brought him to us. He lived with us for years, and would only come when my mom called him. We named him Philbert but after about 3 years had to change his name to Philberta because he had baby ducks :)
That is so funny! It sounds like Philberta had a nice life!
This is so cute. <3 I have so many questions. Did they build a sort of playground for whatever creatures might stumble across it on purpose, or did they just decide it was theirs by the ease of use? LOL Are they teaching us to remember to play even if they're cranky about it sometimes?
Speaking of the animal kingdom and it's many lessons... A friend posted a link to a you tube video called "Porcupine Fish Rescue". (It wouldn't let me link it.) and said 'this is you sticking by me'. It's a fish stuck by clear netting and it's little friend hanging close even tho the humans came along to help. In fact it hangs so close like it's curious what is happening and like sorta hugging the other fish by proximity of the danger. It's so so sweet. (If this is a repeat I'm sorry the system made it look like it didn't go through.)
The geese and ducks have been there as long as we've been here, but the turkeys appeared in December. Honestly, we thought they would not be hanging around long because they'd be Christmas dinner. And many of them did disappear by January, but a few were left. They're funny--when we walk by on our way to the recycling centre, they run towards the fence and make noises, often flapping their wings. I have never seen any people in the yard, so the birds have the run of it, at least much of the time :-)
