Autumn Sunset and Beautiful Blue Sea

I went into the bedroom last night at a little past 7, glanced out the window, and noticed the sky.

Late this morning, I went out on the landing, glanced out the window and noticed the beautiful blue of the sea.

Simple moments of joy scattered throughout the day make me smile. I hope you have many of these today as well.

I think being 'a fall-winter' enthusiast has it's own place... So many look and see the darkness but there are those of us who look and see/feel the beauty and 'lightness' of it too. I haven't really ever heard of a photographer who specialized in 'off-seasonal' photography but seeing this I think there's got to be a place for it! It may not be what people consider popular to appreciate these other seasons, but that doesn't mean they aren't celebrated by many of us (even outside of the various holidays etc that some might want to highlight). I wouldn't be posting pictures of santa etc but I might show the lights somewhere or the snow falling etc. Likewise I think the SAD thing also needs to get new broadening definitions for those who actually suffer just as much in summer.

Living in a place with basically no seasons really means I can't express those things as you can, but having lived with them previously, I can see how important it is to make a point of it all. Why should I have to pay more to live in a place that causes me suffering? (Particularly if I can't move for various reasons.) Some people might thing it's 'popular' or 'all the rage' etc but for many of us we avoid it as much as possible, leaving our activity to 'the few months' when it's not heavy and hot all the time. Going out mostly at night or early in the morning and avoiding things the rest of the time. All things being equal it would be so wonderful if all people could live with the same freedoms and benefits in all places and were free to live a life of equality, substance and stability, free of corruption, wherever we chose to go.

Are there groups out there for 'wintery' people like us? If not there should be.

Heavy is a good way to describe the summer. I do feel like there is a weight pressing down on me during that time and there is a feeling of lightness when my good season begins! And that's here, too, when a heatwave means it's in the 70s!

All the best Jan

I'm glad you relate to my description too. I also feel a real sigh of relief when the cool and rain settle-in. For me it definitely lowers my inflammation etc. I WISH our heat waves were in the 70's too!!
