Had a day out with a friend today and one of our stops was at Marble Hill beach. We were there early enough that she easily found a parking space right by the stairs down to the beach and across from The Shack, a place that sells coffee, tea, ice cream, milkshakes, baked goodies and possibly more. I didn't spend much time looking at the menu, just ordered my iced latte, which was perfect on this warm and sunny day. We sat in the car to enjoy our beverages and then carefully walked down the stairs to the beach.
At the bottom of the stairs we turned left, towards the hills you can see in the top photo. The sea was calm, with tiny waves lapping onto the shore. On another part of the beach some people were in the water, but it wasn't very deep at that time of day. There were some dogs enjoying the beach too.
I quickly became interested in the patterns and textures I was seeing. Here are some examples:
And the patterns and textures under my feet:
We were on our way from somewhere to somewhere so we didn't stay long, but it was a lovely place which I enjoyed visiting.

What a lovely day out with a friend.
I enjoyed seeing your photographs from Marble Hill beach.
Your iced latte sounds perfect :)
All the best Jan
It was warm so iced was perfect! Hope you're having a good weekend, Jan.
Looks like my kind of place to go for a walk, Shari. Among other activities my barely adequate knowledge of geology would have been tested, and my ears and eyes would have been operating at a high level in search of birds and other creatures. If there were tide pools I would have scanned and searched. I might have even earned a second coffee at the end of it all!
We stayed on the flat part of the beach (my friend had her walking stick with her) but I think there might have been tide pools at one end. We didn't get that far. I did see some kind of bird tracks in the sand and thought of you, but I didn't get a good picture. The coffee was definitely worth a second helping, but as we were on our way to lunch, I left it at one ;-)
You have a good eye Shari. Those are great textures. I would have liked walking that beach too. Even better if I could walk it with my dogs. :) Hope Lunch was tasty too.
Lunch was excellent! It was an interesting beach --I love the rock 🙂
This looks like a beautiful spot and I really enjoyed the textures of the rocks and seeing the scope of that beach -- which looked rather enormous!
It was a nice spot. I was told that because we were there early, it was quiet. I'm sure that had we been there a couple hours later, it would've been crazy wit locals and people from Northern Ireland here for the weekend. And it was a warm, sunny day--people tend to get a bit crazy here when the sun is out since they see it seldom enough--LOL
A very, very lovely looking place. The geology of it is spectacular. If only more people could appreciate it...
It's a nice place--and quite popular :-)
