Pre-Coffee!

This morning I slung my backpack onto my back and headed out the door even before I had coffee! What could entice me to do such a thing? The library, where books were in and waiting for me, of course.

There are three different routes I can take to get there and back. They're all nice walks. I chose the longer route on the way there--the Donegal flags are still flying because they won the semi-final match in a rout  on Sunday and will be in the finals in a couple weeks.
You can see that it's a grey day--sky and sea--but there are lots of bright flowers around.
I took the shortest route on the way home and cut down the lane. By then I could hear my coffee calling me.
Here's what I picked up at the library:

I learned about the last one from Erika, at the BioArt Gal blog. In addition to her monthly reading wrap-ups, she posts pictures of her lovely artwork and beautiful surroundings.

I got home and had my coffee. It was excellent. And now for some reading. I think I'll start with Termush because Bill will be reading it too. It's quite short. I hope you're having a great day!

  1. Coffee and a good book. Heaven! Miriam has made banana bread with pecans. Would you like a slice of that to go with it?

  3. A beautiful morning walk to get books sounds great, even if it is pre-coffee. :) And you found a nice collection. I hope you like Death of a Bookseller. I think you will. I haven't read that other British LIbrary Classic so I'm going to add it to my list. Thanks for shout out too. I hope you have a great reading day too. It's hot here so that's what I plan on doing.

    1. We just got back from grocery shopping, so having our first cup of coffee now. I'll be starting a new book this afternoon.

When I read your post which included Death of a Bookseller, went straight to the library to look for it. Then I thought I might as well do a search for British Library Crime Classics and see what newer ones come up. I have no willpower so requested a bunch. I have three more coming, I think, one of which is another bibliomystery. Stay cool and happy reading, Erika!

  4. That rose looks all the brighter in a gloomier day! You had a good haul. I hope you love "Death of a Bookseller" as much as I did. It was one of my favorite of the BCCL books, in part because I actually learned a lot at the same time as enjoying the mystery. The other one looks great too, f I can find it. I reviewed "Bookseller" in September 2023 and one thing I remember about it was that he was a collector of antiquarian books as well as retired police, so he knows of what he speaks!

    1. It's fun when we learn something whilst reading a good story :-) I'm looking forward to all the bibliomysteries (and the others).
